Tomorrow night, the incendiary Dirty Three, will set fire to The Tivoli as part of their Toward the Low Sun tour. The last time they sailed this way was to play Ocean Songs in its entirety and to say the least it was jaw-dropping. Dirty Three have often been described as the best live band on the planet, so beg, borrow, steal a ticket to the show tomorrow night… there will be no better place on the planet! And for now, here’s the hypnotic Moon on the Land.
Nothing could stop me going. They truly are the best. Saw them at Cloudland (the little, now-defunked club in Stanley St that had also been Van Gogh’s Earlobe) when I was about 18 and have tried to catch them whenever I could ever since. In 2007 I even did gig reviews at Splendour in the Grass specifically so I could get in and see Warren, Jim and Mick.
BTW if you ever get a chance to see one of Mick Turner’s solo shows (aka ‘TREN’), go! He likes playing guitar to background video footage of him painting pictures. Ace.
Wow, I love that ‘moon on the land’ – enjoy the show π
