Joyful Noise #2 + Brisbane Sounds

Well, the second in the Joyful Noise Flexidisc series has been spinning on my turntable these past few weeks. It’s a quirky little number by Chicago’s, Make Believe, titled Can’t Tell Cop From Cap. The band began as a live mutation of Joan of Arc and fittingly this song is a live mutation of their Can’t Tell Cop From Cab off their legendary LP, Shock of Being. Here’s a taste of the almighty Make Believe freaking out on stage:

And while we are talking music, Brisbane is currently turning out some of the coolest sounds on the planet! So for those further afield, who may not have their ear to the Brisbane beat, here’s a couple of must listens and an offer too good to be true.

First up, check out the new Stress of Leisure clip, All Australian Punk Band 1979, featuring Conor Macdonald from The Gin Club. Classic!

Then let the sounds of Primitive Motion earworm their way into your head… Interior Sea is another otherworldly gem from these Brisbane innovators.

Finally, here’s that ‘too-good-to-be-true’ offer I was talking about. Brisbane instrumental rockers, Mr. Maps are gearing up for a new release, so they thought it would be a good time to give away their glorious back catalogue. That’s right, for the month of March, they are offering free downloads at their bandcamp website. Here’s the divine Tennis Party, from their recent album, Wire Empire.
